PowerHouse's goal is to integrate all available technologies where appropriate, and this is exactly what we did with this project. Our prescribed upgrade included LED lighting, programmable thermostats, weatherization, insulation, garage door repair, and re-placing registers to gain maximum efficiency from their existing forced air system.
Using a thermal imaging camera during our audit, we identified and sealed all feasible areas of air infiltration from the attic. In order to ensure maximum savings, PowerHouse added another 4" of cellulose insulation to reach a ceiling R-Value of R-50, well above current code requirements.
Our exceptional group of weatherization techs were able to repair the exterior of their existing garage doors gaining efficiency by removing existing vinyl seals and replacing it with 2" brush seals and adjusting its positioning to minimize gaps and enhance operation. PowerHouse retrofitted 30 ft of linear low voltage lights with high quality LEDs with over 60,000 hour life spans replacing dozens of energy consuming halogen bulbs
For their combined efforts, the owners were able to take advantage of a $1000 state tax credit as well as $1500 of federal tax credits, significantly reducing the cost of these improvements.
